Replace Lehtonen with Fleury

Created by: Peterman
Team: 2016-17 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2016
Published: May 13, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Goalies are on the move this summer. But with so many available, the returns will be underwhelming. In anticipation of the Las Vegas draft, teams will be happy to dump their high-priced starters to whoever will accept them. CGY sends a solid goalie prospect and hulking 4th line winger to DAL for Lehtonen. PIT gets two former high end prospects that need a change of scenery for Fleury.

From a Pen's perspective neither of those prospects are overly appealing. They have a better prospect than Campbell already in the AHL in Tristian Jarry. Ritchie might be a good winger, but the Penguins don't need another RW with Kessel, Hornqvist, Rust, and Fehr. Plus Daniel Sprong next season.

I totally get not wanting to part with Nichushkin. But he can play LW and that's what the Penguins would be after. I think Roussel would be more appealing than the two prospects you've listed. Just my $0.02

trading Lehtonen to Flames will not get you Gillies, one of the best goalie prospects in the game. Dallas will have to give their 1st or a top prospect just to unload Lehtonens contract.

Put in the next goalie in line then. Or add more picks. But you have to send something back so Nill can save face; it's part of the biz. The basic idea is dumping expensive players for prospects, not 1st round picks or roster players like so many fans wish would happen. Appreciate the comment though, outside of the Avs, I have little knowledge of other team's prospects, so Hockey's Future is my guide.

I actually saw someone else do a Niemi for Fleury with some other parts moving each way. I actually like that better than what you have here. I think it works both ways in that Pittsburgh needs a salary dumb and has a battle in net. Dallas needs a clear #1. Dallas retains a little Niemi money and takes on Fleury. Maybe a buyout of Lehtonen or even a dump to Calgary or Carolina for a late round pick and you just solved the goalie problem in Dallas.

Lehtonen, Nichushkin, 2 1st rounders for Lundqvist. Just because the Rangers really needs to start rebuilding and Stars needs a good golie. Im swedish - excuse my spelling!
