Mini Rebuild for Minny Trades w MTL EDM VAN NYI

Created by: MJOHNSON1201
Team: 2018-19 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 31, 2018
Published: Dec. 21, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Time to make some changes (also, this is when Dumba comes back). Never 100% on value, but thanks for checking it out!

Trade breakdowns:
MIN & MTL-- Niemi has been a bad back up for MTL, Hammond brings them NHL experience and a stop gap for their backup. MIN gets prospect and a pick

MIN & EDM: MIN gets a RH forward prospect with potential (and fellow russian to maybe convince kaprizov). EDM gets a quality bottom 6 forward with grit and a late pick

MIN & VAN: Change of scenery for both players. Min gets the pick because Ek is younger and has a higher ceiling

MIN & NYI: NYI has two expiring contracts this year in their top 6 and are decently competitive this year, this will help compete this year and have a top six replacement for years to come., they also have cap space to take on Zucker contract. MIN gets a high ceiling prospect, a depth forward and picks.

thanks again for reading.

I know nothing about Alexandre Alain, so I have no opinion about that trade...but, he must not be very good if he is traded for an AHL goalie.

I would consider the Zucker deal except I want nothing to do with Ho Sang. I am not in the (Capfriendly) business of acquiring lazy, cancerous players. Change him out for an equal talent and I would pull the trigger.

It is WAY, WAY, WAY too early to give up on Ek...especially for a player with a ceiling of a bottom 6 forward.

I'm not trading Foligno either...especially not for a token Russian...and one that was recently waived to boot!

Thanks for your comment, please let me respond.
The MTL trade is to get something in return for an AHL Goalie with an expiring contract and has NHL experience. MTL needs a better backup. Alain was undrafted, but is putting up alright numbers in AHL.

With the NYI trade I wanted to get a RHS, fast, scoring prospect. Ho-Sang made sense and NYI needs to replace Lee and Nelson at the end of the year with still trying to make a playoff push. Sometimes a little maturing is needed and edge isn't always bad thing. Also keep in mind a label is a hard thing to escape once it happens. For your reference past players with a reputation for being a problem in their early years ( E Kane, P Kane, P.K Subban, P Roy, E Lindros, T. Seguin, and many more). Might be worth a risk?

I completely understand your point on the Van Trade. I think something needs to happen with Ek, maybe an Iowa stint instead of bottom 6 minutes.

The EDM trade is a personal preference for me. I really do not think much of M. Foligno. He is paid too much and has little impact on the 4th Line. Zykov has played 28 NHL games and has 4 goals (Average 1 goal every 7 games) small sample size, but had 33 in the AHL last year. For comparison EK has played 117 nhl games and has 10 goals (Average 1 goal every 12 games) but one is a token player and the other is way to early to give up on. I i think he has good size and skill and could help a MIN team. He is also only 23.

Sorry for my rambling, but thanks for your thoughts.
