Segs for the WIN

Created by: tesau315
Team: 2019-20 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2019
Published: Jan. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Zajac and Greene get to go home and Schneider gets to go and be a bonafide #1 goalie for a team again.

The trade could also be Bastian, Palmieri, Vatanen, and both 2019 picks for Seguin.

But who knows, I'm not Ray Shero, so all I can do is dream.

Because if Schneids can get back into a rhythm, he is a much better goalie than Raanta. Plus it's only picks and the Yotes have the cap space. However, you could put any team needing a goalie on the receiving end of that trade, and I think the outcome would be similar.

Schneider hasn’t put up better numbers than Raanta in 4 years. A bad team has no reason to take a risk on a poor, injured, $6m goalie if they don’t need to, when there’s barely any room to improve at starting goalie.

We could argue about this until the cows come home. Regardless, it was just an example of how the Devil's could get rid of Schneider to free up cap space. Hell they could even retain $1mil of his salary.
