I wouldn't trade bertuzzi... That guy has all the makings of an Andrew shaw. Wings need more of these types of players. Also vatanen will command of 6m yearly.

Sorry, no one wants Howard's play and his contract while giving up assets. The Vatanen trade, the Ducks would be looking for young, relatively as you suggest. But if the Wings do have salary cap space instead of trading for Vatanan, sign a UFA Dman for 4.5m or so and keep Nyqvist and Bertuzzi. Realistically can probably just sign just one UFA to forward not two.

Couple issues with the trades. We all know Howard is moving ONLY if Detroit takes the hit. Detroit would be lucky to get a 4th rounder straight up for Howard. No way they get two picks. There are a lot of goalies that are set to move and not enough teams to take them all. Giving Arizona a 2nd round pick to take Datsyuks contract is NOT the right way to do it. They would probably take a 4th and the contract, but word on the street is Arizona wants to spend money this summer and bring in some guys so they might not be an option. Only getting Future Considerations back would be something Howard moves for, not a second round pick. I don't think I would give up Bertuzzi just yet. The trade might go through as is, but in the end, I think Detroit would lose.

I get why you think Howard wont move, but you seem to really have something against him. Lots of posts asking why teams want him. Yes, Detroit will take a loss to move him, but he is not immovable. There are a good 4-5 teams that could use a new goaltender. He is a better option than both Niemi and Lehtonen with their contracts. Halak will be available, Anaheim might let go of Anderson, maybe Fluery in Pittsburgh. Id take Howard over any goalie who has worn a Maple Leaf on their chest and is currently active on any NHL roster. Compare Bernier and Howard's numbers last season, Howard was better. Who knows, maybe Babcock pulls some strings to get a goalie he knows in Toronto next season.
