Description

Leafs get 2 huge rentals for playoff push (Ferland as bruising power forward and Mc as superb backup goalie). Get 3 yrs remaining on Hamilton contract and improve blueline. Canes get 2C with Kadri and more speed on wing with Kapanen. This benefits Leafs in short run and benefits Hurricanes in long run. Leafs get a draft pick to give them more long term gain. Both teams get better. (Leafs could also take Faulk instead. Same trade. If Leafs want Pesce, then no draft pick.)

Little too much from Toronto IMO
and you and getting 8M$ in salary value against the same value if they keep Ferland... otherwise too expensive for a rental!
One on One: Kadri for Faulk or Hamilton and they will keep Kappy

He's just the Leafs backup goalie, who's not having a great year. So Canes take him on only so Leafs can afford the deal and not have 3 goaltenders.

I mean, Leafs might be able to win the Cup without improving D or addressing backup goalie. But I think they could sacrifice insane depth at forward to address both and be better overall team. Plus, there's no way Leaf's can afford all these contracts next season. Move some now for Cup run.

Play to your advantages. The leafs need to use their offensive power to win games. Offense is the leafs identity, you don't just get rid of it by trading away depth. Anyways, without Naz, our centre core takes a massive hit. We have no centre prospects or anyone in the AHL that can be called up.

I think you're pretty solid still, with options like Nylander to move to the middle. But center deep teams tend to do well. Canes might have to make a trade with teams out of the playoff race, because they have depth with D but desperately need a 2C who scores goals.
