Andersson has been our best of our young 3 d men, I would guess that they are looking for a LD that can play until Valimaki is 100% then sit in the press box so Prout can go down to the AHL or the way of waivers. I think that the Flames looking at a D has decreased a little with the way Kylington ahs played lately, he was a healthy scratch and has come out guns blazing since then, it's looking more like Valimaki is going to have to really play his way back onto the team as opposed to having a spot waiting for him.

What do you think about Quick and Simmonds,

I think they would probably be two of the best two moves the Flames could make, I think the Flames would be giving up a heck of a lot more than what is above. Simmonds is going to get offers from everywhere and Quick may be an out of division trade for the Kings. To target Simmonds I think the package will include a 1st rd pick, mid prospect and a goalie prospect.

Quick would definitely come at a premium in division, I think Calgary would have to give up one of Kylington/Valimaki a high pick and a roster player which I'm not sure I would be willing to part with, especially if Rittich is as liked in the room as it seems, Quick is an elite goalie and will want to play down the stretch and in the playoffs, the guys love playing for Rittich and that is a big shake up to chemistry

Stay far far away from Quick.

I wouldn't give up a 1st round pick for him, let alone top prospects.

1) He's already 33 and has 4 years left at just shy of 6M per season. This will hinder the Flames going forward.

2) He's injured. A LOT. Multiple knee surgery's and back issues. He's not getting any younger, and I'd expect his numbers continue to take a nose dive with age. See: Mike Smith.

3) Giving up top picks/prospects, while simultaneously helping the Kings cap situation is likely not something the Flames should do.

Would you guys think a Howard for Smith and Bennett trade might work?

Honestly I don’t believe the flames need to pull the trigger on a goalie trade just yet. Especially not for someone with the injury history of quick. Rittich has been very good, and I’d like to see how he develops. If he falters, then they should acquire a goalie. Definitely not Quick though.

Also, would rather have Bennett over Simmonds. More upside, less money. Similar point totals this year between the two. Bennett has played better than his stat line suggests imo. So basically don’t trade Bennett and fill that hole with Simmonds.
