Ryan Strome

Created by: coffey77
Team: 2018-19 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 26, 2019
Published: Jan. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I am not sure if you could get Ryan Strome and Kevin Hayes or get a 3C in a separate trade? Give Strome a look on Crosby's wing. The Pens might have to give a 1st to make this happen.

As someone who watched Strome fail when played on McDavid's wing, I'll let you know that he probably won't excel with Crosby either.

He's got a decent hockey IQ, but he's slow and he doesn't have a quick release or a great shot. He's a decent 3C simply because he can make good passes and he can stay in a good position. But he'll never be a high scoring winger IMO, not even with Crosby

Why would the Rangers do that? They're interested in picks and prospects, and they already got rid of Brassard two years ago.

The idea of trading for Kevin Hayes is growing on me. He can be the Jordan Staal of yesteryear. I hated when the Pens traded Recchi and Coffey to the Flyers, but we won a cup. I will learn to like Kevin Hayes. The Rangers could get a solid defenseman in Maata a pick and maybe someone like Aston Reese. They would have to retain money for only 1 year to make it work. That is a lot for someone who is going to be a free agent next year.

Sid prefers a fast winger and the Rangers might not have interest in Brassard. The fact that Ryan Strome has played with McDavid could help him be successful with Sid because he has skill and offensive instincts. Most likely I will agree that the Ryan Strome trade is a gamble. The Kevin Hayes trade might be worth a look for the 3c.

He never played well with McDavid though, he couldn't keep up
