His argument seems very logical actually. Much more than "other stars don't host tv shows" (they do), "other stars don't talk about themselves" (they do), "he's not the best hockey player" (irrelevant), and Bergevin did the right thing to trade him (the Canadiens are worse).

Hockey as a sport has been lagging behind other sports like football, basketball, baseball, and even soccer in terms of popularity. One of the reasons people identify is because the NHL doesn't do a very good job of highlighting star players. PK's personality and charisma could benefit the sport and the league by growing the popularity and fanbase thus bringing in more talent and money. I think that makes quite a lot of sense.
