Backes waives to go to Columbus. They get him for the next 2 years, provides some leadership and stability on line 3 and 4. His actually money owed the next 2 years isn't that high. Bruins re-sign Panarin 8 x10

Not one team wants Backes contract. You didnt even retain salary... Still i rather keep Debrusk on the left side, so that makes me want to trade for Mark Stone to finish the 2nd line

Backes will be traded, maybe not at the deadline but certainly after July 1st. His actual salary dips significantly. Columbus has a hard time attracting Free Agents so I think they may take back a player like Backes .

Why? For 2 months then he walks? No thanks. And no he is not re-signing here. He has made it pretty clear where he wants to go.

I actually don't hate this for CBJ. Backes is basically Brandon Dubinsky...contract and all...but if he can still manage to play 3C and win draws for Columbus, they need that desperately. The rest of the package is enough for CBJ to be able to flip for a viable Top 6 LW.
