    If you are giving Point a $56M contract ($8M x 7 years), the compensation is four 1st Round Picks, not a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.

Offer Sheet contracts are figured out by dividing the total cost of the contract ($56M) over the number of years, HOWEVER, the max number that is used for an offer sheet is 5 years. Any offer sheet containing a 6+ year contract is still calculated as if it is a 5-year deal, so in terms of the offer sheet, Point's contract is $56M over 5 years, averaging out to $11.2M, meaning the Stars would have to give up their 1st Round Picks through 2023, and that is far too expensive for Point.

The max deal the Stars could offer Point and still fall into the lesser threshold of two 1st's, a 2nd, and a 3rd Round Pick would be either a 7-year deal worth roughly $50.4M (10.08M AAV) or a 5-year deal worth roughly $50.7M ($10.14M AAV).

*EDIT* The Stars don't have the picks necessary to offer sheet Point, unless they are willing to offer the four 1st Round Picks. Vegas owns their 2020 2nd Round Pick. It was a part of the Marc Methot trade.

I know about Vegas owning the 2020 2nd round pick which is why they would need to go out and acquire a 2nd round pick. As for Point I did now know that the offer sheet is a 5 yr max so in that case I would offer him 40 mil over 5 years for an $8 Million AAV and then go out and get a 2020 2nd round pick to give up the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
