The only thing I don't love about your roster is the Wild having both Vanek and Pominville on the roster...but that might be reality. I would like to see the Wild buyout (or trade, if possible) Vanek and over pay Backes for a 2 year deal. Someone HAS to protect Parise or his career...as we know it...will end looooong before his contract is up.
Some people might think $1.75mil is too much to pay for a "4th line" center, but Girgensons is very versatile and has added value because he can fill in on other lines and in other situations...and of course, because he plays center.

I don't see Pommer moving, having a rebound year, and he'll be easier to trade at 2 years than 3.
Vanek (whom Yoe couldn't use properly), I'd rather keep than buyout ($1.5 and $2 cap hits) and spend that on a new "shiny toy". Eriksson would be the next Pommer contact, we've tried enough of Tavares wings (Vanek/Moulson) to overpay Oko, Backes is going to cash in this season (weak UFA crop).

I agree Parise needs some protection. Nino and Coyle both have a mean side, that might be encouraged more with BB. Or go out and sign Stewart again put him on Parsie line a few shift and let him do his thing.

I really do think a Granny/Koivu/Vanek line could be something.

On paper, I agree...the Granny/Koivu/Vanek line could be something. Problem is, this is the time of the year where everyone gets all excited about how well Granny and Koivu play at the Worlds (a tourney where a good AHL team would win some games) and think that will translate to a great next season...which it never does. Koivu and Granny are solid, versatile players that every team in the NHL would like to have...but that's where my excitement ends...at - they are solid, versatile players...
Vanek - I see your point, but... I think someday - about 20 years from now he's going to wake up and realize he COULD have been a hall of fame player...but instead, was forced out of the game before his time should have been up simply because he just doesn't give a ****! I'm a HUGE Gopher fan and Vanek will always have a special place in my heart for carrying the Gophers to the NCAA championship in '03, but I hope his time with the Wild is over. He's a pouter and a cancer and those are the reasons why he's bounced around more than a ping-pong ball the last few years.
          Again, just my opinion...

I wasn't basing it on the Worlds (bigger ice give Granny that extra second to excel). Just the small sample size at the end of the season/playoffs. I"m not a Granny fanboy at all, but he does raise his game in the playoffs (Worlds/Olympics).

Vanek being bounced around really isn't fair. Buffalo went into fire-sale mode traded to NYI. Declined a nice longterm deal (better than Wild game him) from NYI, rental deal to MTL recoup something. Took his shot as a UFA. No doubt his give-a-**** meter is at about a 0.5 (last Olympics prime example).

I can take another year of him as opposed to a buyout, it's not like he's Stu-f'in-Bickel getting paid $6.5mil. The only player hitting the market (imo) worth a buyout is Stamkos (not happening).
