The issue with Henrique is this: you cannot retain a players salary on a contract until that contract has started. AH new deal starts July 1, but his NTC also kicks in then. Without salary retention, he has little to no value and with salary ret. he cuts the # of buyers by 1/3.

He’s a lower end 2C right now, with 5 years of most likely 3C ahead of him

I'd say hes having a bad season at .5 PPG and thats with how bad the ducks have been, I can see the last 2 of years of his extension being as a 3C

I think buffalo needs a guy like henrique to centre that second line giving middlestadt time to develop over the next couple of years.
