Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers

Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Goal was to see where the Oilers might be assuming minimal moves. I didn't want to make any unrealistic signings or trades. Made very few moves, we will likely see considerably more roster turnover.

1. Resign Jujhar and Puljujärvi. I think they will get less in real life than here.

2. Signed Rattie for cheap. I kinda doubt the Oilers do this, but I used him as a placeholder for cheap winger. Resign Gravel (or other cheap D) as 7D

3. Buyout Sekera. It seems unlikely that both Russell and Sekera will be back next year. Buying out Sekera is simplest option but we may see a trade.

4. Resign Chiasson. I'm not a fan of re-signing him unless it's less than $1.5M but I think the Oil will go higher than that so I put it at $1.75M

5. Sign a $2-4M ish goalie. I used Nilsson, but could be Mrazek, Talbot, etc.

5. Use remaining ~$5M in cap space to shore up the top 6 wingers. I chose Dzingel because I think the Oilers management like him but could be any of Dzingel, Silfverberg, Donskooi, Lee, Zuccarello, Eberle (lol), Nyquist, Hayes, Nelson etc. It will depend on whose available, as well as Cap obviously.

All in all, this shows that the Oilers should have enough space to resign everyone and add a small piece. A good GM could probably free up enough space to add more than a mediocre goalie and okay winger...but that's contingent on getting a good GM.

This is probably a bubble playoff team
