Team: 2018-19 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2019
Published: Feb. 13, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Islanders are so good but if they don’t make a deal for a playmaker on Barzal’s left then forget it, they’re gonna waste a special opportunity like they did in 2015/16. Even if it’s not apart of Lou’s five year plan, it goes without saying that they can make something happen without emptying the cupboard.

I do not want to trade for Panarin. He said he wants to test the market wether he gets traded of stays with the Jackets. I'd much rather make an offer in FA rather than giving up the sun and the moon.

A cup win or hell even an ECF appearance would quell any potential heartache of losing him July 1. I think it’s worth it.

Hence the dilemma that all teams face at TDL. To be a buyer/seller/ or stay put.

Josh Ho-Sang not worth anything to another team. People have to stop trying to trade him for actual value.

If we don't get him July 1st we don't lose any of our assets. I don't want to give up our prospects when we don't have to. We could get cheaper options at the deadline. Dzingle, for example, has 21 goals and 41 points on a very poor OTT team. I feel like he would thrive with us and most likely resign him. He would also cost us much less as their gm said they want a 1st for him so we could either give up a first or maybe even a second and a defensive prospect like Vande Somple or Burroughs. Just my thought process.

I’m with you. It’s the debate because the Isles are exceeding expectations but at the same time need to think five years ahead. Really interesting to see what they do.
