That's a great offer. Over the summer, I think Washington would have to consider it. Holtby has an NTC, so they'd sit down with him first, and they might find out he wants a team friendly extension to stay in Washington for his whole career, but short of that, I think Rittich and Samsonov could be an awesome tandem in a few years, and even though they have a lot of good LHD prospects, too, the value in Kylington and a 1st is enough to get them on board. Well done.

Add Dube and they might have to consider it at the deadline. smile

Sitting here today, the Holtby deal looks pretty good (maybe even very good) from the CGY perspective. But a few things to consider:

- it will be interesting to see how Rittich develops beyond his first 60 games in the NHL (we're working with a small sample size to know how good he is, or could be)
- CGY would need to have a longer-term contract mapped out for Holtby before pulling the trigger. He's been a Top 10 goalie for a while and has won a Cup...how big is he expecting the next ticket to be?
- given the incremental AAV given to Holtby over Rittich, should the Flames pay Kylington + Czarnik + 1st + 3rd? Is Holtby at >$9M/yr that much better than Rittich at $2.5-4M/yr? And which salary has to leave to accommodate the Holtby contract?

------

I think that Brown for Ryan in a 1-for-1 would be just fine. There are plenty of posts out there suggesting the Leafs would move Brown for a 2nd and a mid-level prospect. Not sure how valid that is, but Ryan + a 2nd rounder is quite a bit more than that package.
