What is your trade in the offseason with Laine? If you sign Stone, Laine is gone.

That is a heavy price. Can't see another team beating that.

But I think it's also way too steep for Chevy to do.

Why are you targeting Laine? That'll never happen. The way Laine is playing now they'll get him at much less than TOR paid Matthews. That or they bridge him (WPG won't want to do this) at a significantly lower cost. Losing the Kulikov contract (4.3MM) is the start. Tyler Myers is a UFA so his 5.5MM will be off the books too. That's 8.3MM gone. There's many more questions to sort out in the off season: Is Trouba sticking around? If not, what's the return there? Can WPG find someone to take Little? Would WPG trade a winger like Connor? They probably don't want to but IF they did they'd get a good haul for him as well. It's a cap management issue that they would definitely have to sort out but it's not impossible. Stone is the kind of player you do what is necessary to make it work. He leads the NHL in GAR.

Vanderm - OTT will want Roslovic or a similar player. Chevy probably says no... unless you take Kulikov which facilitates a sign & trade of Stone. Signing the player means paying the same price CLB will be paying for Duchene which is the extra 1st rd pick.

If Dorion dealt Duchene for a pair of high scoring CHL guy and a B- Defensive prospect than I'm pretty sure Roslovic won't be necessary.

Never mind that Kulikov has a 10 Team no-trade list that I would bet has Ottawa.
