That's the concern, though. Someone will probably offer him the 5-6 yr term and be stuck with him. You know we're all counting down the days of the Steen contract and he is the type of player that projects with way more longevity than a Simmonds-type. For a Bozak-type deal - 5m x 3 - I guess he's an option, but we could probably do better building from within.


Well ideally Kostin steps in to that role. But for whatever reason (thinking it's for contract reasons) they won't give Kostin a shot at the NHL level

Yeah I think it's mostly expansion reasons. To put it in perspective Steen has been a much better at 5v5 the past 3 years by various scores than Simmonds has been. Especially this year.

He has been arguably better. But when you think about what the Blues lack (solid net front presence, bigger more physical player) he provides a much better benefit. Again, Kostin could take that role, but it won't be for a year
