Ducks would likely decline very quickly.

Boy, I'm not as sure about this one as my Anaheim colleagues. The departure of Montour, whatever you think about his play this year, creates a big hole at RhD. And the Ducks have a wealth of right-handed forwards. You have to give something to get something. If Ducks scouts said Pionk was an improvement over Montour, I would make this trade. Maybe you could sweeten it with a 3rd-rounder to fill that hole in our dance card?

I am a ranger fan actually. I just think Pionk is not even close to the value of Terry.

Pionk got off to a hot start, but really cannot defend well at the NHL level yet. He's 24 with a pretty low ceiling. I think he could be a solid 3rd pairing puck moving RHD, but they already have Deangelo (who has played better), so they do not need both of them. They should move Pionk, Smith, and Namestnikov however way they can, and bring in a defenseman on the right side who can really defend (maybe Myers, or a trade for Hamilton somehow).

Terry has the potential to be very good at the NHL level. I just think it would cost a lot more to acquire Terry, and I question why the Ducks would want to move him with all their youth coming up next season.

This is just a matter of positional need for positional need, and I like namestnikov on the PK so I'd keep him

If they want Panarin and/or and another free agent (like a defenseman who can actually play defense), then they may have to move Namestnikov. I like him too, but NYR have a plenty of players that can kill penalties and his contract expires next season anyway.

I assume the only young players that the ducks are willing to trade are Shore/Sprong/Ritchie. None of the young kids are available, terry/jones/etc. I think Murray will draft a RHD with the 2nd pick in the first round. We can probably move one of the three i listed and a pick for a decent RHD.

Thanks for such an honest evaluation of one of your own players. Yes, we have high hopes that Terry has a huge upside. The problem for him is the logjam of right-handed forwards (Kase, Sprong, Sherwood, not to mention Rakell -- who usually plays LW -- and Perry) Anaheim has. If the Ducks don't buy Perry out, which I consider a remote possibility, then I predict you will see someone traded before Christmas and maybe even s early as draft day.
