Namestnikov with Rangers 81 games 11goals 17 asists. I don't think Carolina trades a 3rd for one year of Namestnikov...

A solid third liner in the NHL is ABSOLUTELY worth a 3rd round pick. Think of it this way: what percentage of 3rd round picks end up better players than 30 point scorers in the NHL?

I'm not defending the post, I wouldn't do that trade if I were Carolina. But you said you wouldn't do Namestnikov for a 3rd, and I replied you absolutely should.

As for third liners or worse traded for excessive returns: Hartman for a 1st, Boyle for a 2nd, Grabner for a 2nd and Rykov, etc. There are a lot of bad GMs.

Fast is a fantastic 3rd line if not 4th line forward, no way we trade him to NJ
