Description

Ottawa has a leadership/mentor void it needs to fill for the next few years while we suck and develop. Simmonds fits the bill perfectly and we have money to throw at him. Other options are Eberle/Ferland but I think Simmonds is the best choice. He can teach Tkachuk the ropes of being a Powerforward.

Note: we are not looking to be good the next 1-2 years so no dumbass comments like "Simmonds is overpaid/we need a good RHD/this team is still bad." No **** it's bad, we want to pick well the next 2 years, and you don't trade for RHD you ****ing draft them.

And then trade them when they want $$$ *sarcasm font*

I wouldn't even give Simmonds a 2 year deal, he is eroding very fast/poorly in his old age.
Duclair hasn't proven anything to deserve a double his pay rate.

Agreed but they need to hit the floor somehow

Travel as a 21 man roster and list Gaborik as the 22 player and a scratch, claim his nearly 5 million cap hit.

The best way for the Sens to rebuild and hit the cap floor, see if Lucic will accept a trade to Ottawa and grab whatever cash dump the Leafs have on the market (Zaitsev or Brown).

I was at the Marlies v. Sens game on Monday at the ACC, I was impress by L. Brown, he is big and skilled, Batherson and Paul was feisty and hard working, but Brannstrom looked small and ineffective. Hogberg made the key saves when it mattered.

You would rather Lucic than Simonds? That is completely trash, Simmonds everyday.

We need a mentor, and someone who can still score 20 goals. Yes he's declining, it doesn't matter because his contract will be up when this team has enough talent in place to hopefully contend.
