Its a fair starting point to get rid of Callahan, but I think they'd need to give a little more. I don't believe though that the Lightning will give up a player like Miller or Gourde just to clear Cally. A second and a young bottom six forward or B prospect could get it done

Fair enough! Shedding Callahan's salary is a must, but yes I think it would probably take closer to what you proposed to get him off the books.

I have thought about the possibility of including Miller or Gourde myself, but after thinking about it, if I were a lightning fan, would I want to do such a deal? Hell no! those are great players and I have a great team. I'd rather shed a first round pick before I did that.

Cap floor teams may be interested, but he has a NTC....Ottawa may be off the table given that reason, which is why hometown Rochester NY product to Buffalo makes sense

I definitely agree 100%! I didn't realize he has a NTC so yeah that could absolutely change the potential destination as well.

You're missing a player. There are 23 roster spots, we're not going to leave one empty.

No...lots of teams carry 1 extra F and 1 extra D throughout the season.

I'm not sure what you mean.

But you're right up against the cap, with only 22 slots filled. That means you've left no room to fill the roster to 23 guys. And we're going to fill it -- we ain't gonna run with just 22.

In other words, the team you put together is over the cap. You need to cut salary somehow, so we can afford a 23rd player.
