1) I think Laughton gets that much because he'll produce about 15 goals. He'll spend time as the 4th line center and probably spend time as a wing on other lines from time to time. I view him as a strong utility man for the lineup.
2) I see Patrick getting bridged. There's $3.7 million in space with the team above. Schlemko and MacDonald are buried in the minors so that's $4.95 million that comes off after the 19-20 season. I would also have $3 million for Elliott come off. There's a good chance that Gudas' is not brought back either. So there's another $3.35 plus any possible cap increase. They'd have about $15 million in space for 20-21 assuming no cap increase to pay Patrick, Lindblom, Hagg, Myers, a 14th forward, a 7th defenseman, and a backup goalie. I think they'd be okay.
