Description

At over $6 million over the cap. If they don't sign Johnsson and Kapanen to at least 4.1 million why wouldn't a team offer sheet them and only give a 2nd rounder for each? They are not re-signing any of their UFA's

I think that if they offer Johnsson and Kapanen 3.6 mil per for 2 or 3 years there is a good chance they will stay with the leafs as a cup contender and not accept an offer sheet if one comes. That will save a combined 1 million of cap form your signing numbers

Also I think Marner will accept a 10 mil 6 year deal saving another 1 million of cap from your signing number.

And I really hate to do it but the contract is set up so that Nylander can be traded after the July 1 bonus that leaves a cash hit lower than the cap hit so a low budget team will jump all over that. Nylander for ELC contracts, prospects and picks leaves his 6.9 million in cap savings.

So that covers the 6 million over and leaves 2.9 million for the last 2 players to make the 23 man roster.
