Nemeth is gone....you don't spend 3.4m on a 7th Dman. Graves for 900k will do what Nemeth will o not act blue line...be a healthy scratch with that 6 healthy playing every day.

Because Graves is 23 and has only played in 26 NHL games. Bednar's gonna play the guys that have been around longer, he wants experience right now. Makar's different because he's effectively the second coming of Erik Karlsson.

Avs have 6 D already; Girard, EJ, Makar, Cole, Zadorov, Barrie.. why would they spend 3.4million on a guy to be #7?? Also dont ignore the fact that Nemeth isnt worth 3.4 million.

Nemeth is gone...why they only offered him a 1 year deal vs Barb at 2 years, and the reason they signed Cole. He is the better Nemeth replacement. Unless they are going to trade Barb and nemeth is going to sign less than the 2.5m he is making now, there is no way he comes back. Graves and Barbs are already there for 7-8 next year, you have Timmins, Meloche, maybe even Bryam if they take him at 4...who knows, nipping at the heels for a roster spot. 3 years at 3.4m is just a dumb Chia level signing and thats not Joe

I would be on board with Lee....but I dont see Islanders letting their captain go again, he will sign a big ticket to stay there. I would rather give 5m to a guy like Ferland over 6m to a guy like Nelson.
