I don't think Spurgeon will sign for less than he's making now. An extension will probably be in the ballpark of at least $7M, but Toronto would have plenty of space to pay him that with Marleau's contract coming off the books and an additional $3-5M from the cap increase. 5 years seems reasonable to me.

Makes no sense for the Ducks to make that trade. Most of Kesler's contract is insured, so they can just LTIR him if he can't play. Zaistev is overpaid for his production, and ultimately cost the Ducks more in terms of cap hit and real dollars for a longer amount of time.
