I'll just say that your first pairing would get eaten alive in the playoffs.

Really can't see Boston being a contender again for quite some time too many old players that were stars five years ago, only strength of the Bruins is their 1-2 punch of Krejci and Bergeron

I don't think a leafs fan should be commenting on anything like this.

This is so true. The Leafs have been one of the worst if not the worst franchises the last 10 years.

You think the Yandle-Shattenkirk pair would get "eaten alive"? You are so wrong that's a solid pair of ive seen one.

Yes, they are both miserable in their own zone. So they would get eaten alive in the playoffs. They are good defenseman, but they need partners who can compliment their games. They do not compliment each other at all.

That is true I'll give you that. How about Chara-Shattenkirk & Yandle-Either Miller

I wouldn't say either Miller. I don't think Colin would fit well with either, as well. He's in more of the offensive mold, and needs a lot of work on his defensive game. Kevan Miller is just brutal, and should not be anywhere near a top 4. If Kevan Miller is a top 4 defenseman on your team, you are not a good team. He is a #5/6 on a contender. If the Bruins actually had a legit 2nd pairing guy who was solid defensively, then I'd say that getting both Shattenkirk and Yandle would be a good move, but they don't. You target one of them (since they're very similar players) and acquire a more two-way guy.

        Chara -- Yandle/Shattenkirk
        Krug -- TRADE
        Colin -- Kevan

But this is the Bruins, and sadly, I think they have sights on acquiring 1 guy, and using Kevan as the 2nd pairing guy. Something like this:

        Chara -- TRADE
        Krug -- Kevan
        Colin/Morrow -- McQuaid

Bruins and Sweeney messed up resigning Kevan Miller, because they already have 2 other defenseman like him (struggle in the o-zone and transitioning the puck) in McQuaid and Seidenberg. To me, for the Miller signing to make any sense, that would mean Seidenberg AND McQuaid are both moved, Kevan slides into the #5/6 spot (however you want to look at it) and the Bruins acquire two legit top 4 defenseman. But I don't have much hope on that.
