Aggressive but reasonable moves. If you plan to build your team around Nico and Kakko/Hughes, you are probably looking at Taylor Hall being past him prime when the Devils are actually cup contenders. So you trade him now when his trade value is maximized and get some key role players in the process. One thing - the Devils will have a tough time signing Gardiner as he's probably the 2nd best free agent D available after Karlsson. Also, while he is a massive upgrade overall because of his offensive ability and playmaking ability, does PK really upgrade the Devils ability to defend much over Vatanen? Not sure

Nahville trade is fine as long as it comes with an extension for Hall

I think taking Hughes makes more sense here in conjunction with your trades and FA signings. You're adding 4 wingers, while forcing Nylander and Coleman to play center.
