That Florida trade is baffling but the Toronto one isn’t that far off. Benning is equal to brown and Kapanen worth is a 2nd rounder. Rattle is an an ahl plug but Khaira definitely has some value.

As for the Toronto trade, Oilers could offer sheet Kapanen and only give a 2nd as compensation, so I Toronto gets a better deal by acquiring a second plus Khaira and Rattie.

With the Florida trade, Panthers want to lose salary while staying above the cap floor, so Russel provides them with 2 years at a $4 million cap hit while paying $4 million in year one and only $2.5 million in year 2. Trocheck gets paid $5.25 million and is $4.75 cap hit. They get Puljujarvi who isn’t a bust, just not used properly in Edmonton, and Gambardella who can play anywhere in the lineup.
