Small-ish Moves

Description
Toronto needs young defensive depth, and a good prospect with a conditional pick should get it done with Brown on the block. Brown can easily slot in to a 3rd line role in DC.

Anaheim needs reliable defense and a backup goalie. Yes, they're entering a rebuild, but they were competitive for a good portion of this year and the contract situation with Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler being what it is really prevents them from going full rebuild this year, so I think they would part with these picks if it allows them to be competitive, fill out a very good top-4, and stay out of free agency. They should enter full rebuild next year when there's only a year left on Perry and Getzlaf and Eaves comes off the books. I think Kesler gets bought out this year no matter what. If I'm the Caps, I would add a prospect or a conditional pick if the deal is not quite there.

Girardi is signed for depth only. He's getting old and is injury prone, but can still be productive in a limited role without being the same kind of liability that Orpik has been. If he'd take less, then muy bueno.

I don't see Burakovsky in your lineup - so Caps just give up on him?? I don't think there is anyway Jonsson-fjallby makes the roster.

Pretty much, yeah. They may trade his rights to a team that believes in him more, but he has not been able to find a home in the roster since Vrana's emergence and isn't worth the qualifying offer. By the time he gets to free agency, the Caps could easily have found a replacement (like Brown) for cheaper than they could sign him.

Re: AJF, he and Walker are the only two prospects that I have seen mentioned as remotely likely options for making the roster. Training camp should tell us a lot. If not, there's a hundred cheap 4th liners out there.
