There has to be at least one high pick or legit prospect coming back to Pitt. Deal makes no sense otherwise. One of Donato, Kunin, Greenway, Erickson Ek or a 1st has gotta be going back. I'd guess Kunin out of that group of prospects.

You should work for Wild owner Craig Leipold - he is this stupid too!!

Jack Johnson's contract is the equivalent of that.

Phil would have to waive his NTC - Minnesota not one of the teams on Phil's "allowable" list. Per Friedman

So you're telling me that Kessel + Johnson for Zucker + Rask is even value? Zucker is a great 2nd /3rd line player. He brings speed, energy and some scoring (21G's and 42 Pts) but he's nowhere near the player Kessel is (27 G's 82 Pt's). Kessel is still an elite winger in the NHL. Rask and Johnson are a wash value wise.

Minnesota has a ton of high-end forward prospects in Kaprizov, Kunin, Donato, Greenway, Erickson Ek, Bitten and Sokolov. Kaprizov is untouchable but Kunin, Greenway and Donato are all very good prospects (not elite). Key word "prospects".... there is absolutely no guarantee that any of them will ever be as good as Kessel is right now.

Why wouldn't they part ways with one of them (they still have a ton of high end prospects) to acquire an immediate impact, elite winger? If you have to give up one of those prospects to get a 30 goal scoring, point per game guy, I think it’s very well worth it.

What I'm saying is the Wild trading for old, slow(ing) and fat players...especially malcontents like Kessel is an idiotic idea! They currently do not have a Cup window, so why trade for an immediate impact??? It makes no sense, period.

Haha love the Kessel chirp. Honestly as fat as he looks, he's always looked that way and hasn't gotten fatter. Look at his draft day podium picture for a laugh. Regardless, he's still very fast by league standards... even at the tail end of his prime NHL years. That being said, I think Kessel can still score goals in this league for a quite a bit longer. His speed is still there and he will always have that shot / release. He seems to me like one of those guys who just naturally "has it" (based on his ability to perform while fat) and will keep producing.

This team isn't looking too bad on paper. The glaring hole is at the center position and they would have around $10mil in cap space (in this scenario) to address that through free agency or trades. Your #12 pick in this years draft should be a stud and would replace Kunin (or another prospect) in terms of prospect depth. Carolina had the second pick in last years draft and made the conference finals this year... just sayin. Good luck to your Wild.

Parise - Staal - Kessel
Kaprizov - Koivu - Donato
Greenway - Eriksson Ek - Fiala
Foligno - Sturm - Aberg

Suter - Dumba
Brodin - Spuergeon
Johnson - Pateryn
