Not too much shakeup 3-way deal Dallas and NJ

Description
I think this type of Marleau deal is still the most likely. Probably makes the most sense, although a move to Anaheim for somebody like Eaves is also possible. One thing is clear, Marleau will not be a Leaf next year.

NJ is looking for some wing help and Cogs would be a great guy to have around some of their young forwards and do the dirty work. Dallas needs a RD upgrade (they just resigned Polak), I think this deal helps all 3. Maybe you want Honka back in this deal instead but if he can't crack their roster not sure we want him on ours.

Bottom few players on the roster are in competition. Petan maybe beats out Goat, but Bracco and Engvall also get opportunities to make the big team. As does Teemu Kivalhame. Once Hyman comes back you probably look at trading Brownie (or maybe at the deadline). You can also look to further upgrade RD at the deadline, maybe somebody like Tanev or Green (expiring UFA's on teams that will be out of it and likely retain).

I think something similar gets you Hamonic, but if not you can look at other options. I'd be happy to dangle Johnsson as a way to upgrade our RD. Miller is just a bonus, not sure that's a price Vegas is willing to do but they do need to shed salary. Adding a B level prospect (SDA or Hollowell for example) might swing it. Now that I look at this trade, it seems every fan base is giving similar offers for Miller, meaning it probably takes more. It might take Bracco. Not sure I do it then.

I could see the Leafs bringing in another goalie to compete with Sparky, you need to get Freddie more rest.

Some of the trades are good but a little off. AJ is slightly more valuable to the Leafs, Kappy more valuable to most of the league so i would trade him instead. The Goat is better than Fehr in my opinion but doesn’t hurt to sign Fehr.
    Where is Bracco??????
How are you supposed to find the money when Hyman and Dermott comeback.

Bracco is in the AHL. If he doesn't make the opening roster that's where he will go. I personally don't see him making it, but he will be in competition with Marchment, Brown, and Petan. I like Fehr more than Goat, but the idea is just a veteran guy, who is irrelevant. It may come down to who is waiver exempt and who isn't.

Hyman and Dermott are currently counting against the cap. On IR they count against the cap, on LTIR they don't (well they do, but different). So they are included in that total.

I like Kap SO MUCH MORE than AJ. Yes AJ is a natural left winger but I think Kappy can cross over. I think Kap has the potential to be a better version of Zach Hyman, while I don't think Johnsson improves much more. Kap also kills penalties. He also drives the net a bit more and can contribute without the puck on his stick. Not sure who the Leafs move but I think the preference would be AJ.

Very good explanation, I always forget about the IR.
