Description

If Flyers sign Hayes they go Couts, Hayes, Lowry, Laughton down the middle and still have Frost coming. Helps both teams for the expansion draft as Flyers protect Provy, Trouba and Sanheim and can protect all their forwards of value. Ghost would still be exposed, but they can address that in a separate deal. Myers does need protection in the expansion draft and Frost doesn't.

Move the strength of the back end from the right to the left by acquiring Werenski at the cost of one of our top line wingers. Hopefully Werenski can carry whichever of our young RHD that win the second pair spot out of camp.

Kulikov is then replaced by Samberg later this season or next year. Kuli's cap is given to JMo. The extra cap and amout the cap increases goes to Patrick, Roslovic, Myers and Niku extensions depending on how their seasons go.

Laine gets his time on the top line
Roslovic gets his shot in the top 6
Patrick gets his shot in the top 6
We draft a center at 11OA in case Patrick can't cut it.
PoMo gets his shut down third line that he likes
We fill the 4th line and pressbox with guys happy to be on the 4th line or in the pressbox.
Perreault moves back into a top 9 role
We're set up pretty good for the expansion draft.

Flyers say no, the only reason they got hayes is to give patrick a chance to thrive outside the top 6 and give him favorable match ups.

I understand that, but we're giving you a 3C that is elite at faceoffs that is already proven in that third line role so that Patrick becomes expendable. Without him you have Couts, Hayes (needs to happen to make this work), Lowry, Laughton, Frost, Rubstov. You have established NHLers that have thrived in the roles you'd be asking them to play on other teams.
