I actually like this...Karlsson over 6 instead of 7 or 7 at 10M but whatever...and Lehkonen would probably want at least 3M for 2 years but who knows, maybe this could get done. The trade looks good in my books, although both 2nds seems like overkill. Why not 2nd (cbj) and 3rd (mtl)?

I find that Ghost trade to be very bits and pieces for one good player. Shaw isn't too shabby and I'd think he'd do well in Philly, but Hudon and x2 seconds seems underwhelming compared to what Ghost could get Philly back in other trades. That Karlsson signing cripples the Canadiens salary cap next year when re-signing Domi. Karlsson would likely command 11 in Montreal. Only places that may get a discount are the lower tax states (Florida, Nevada, Texas,). in 5 years the last thing MTL needs is close to 30mil in cap space going to two aging defenders and an aging goalie. Especially when it comes time to re-sign Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Mete, etc. Also, Lindgren isn't looking too hot these days, while he's cheap, not sure if you want him as your #1 if Price gets hurt which does happen.

Fair enough! I do absolutely agree that a Karlsson signing would make it very hard on MTL to maneuver the cap in years to come.

Karlsson isn't signing with Montreal, Basically it comes down to the Rangers, Lightning or Stars.

Well, you clearly haven't read ANY trade rumours then. Montreal is very much in the mix for Karlsson.
