So Anaheim is going to pay 8.5 million for Zaitsev? Makes sense.

I don't want Perry, even at that retention.

Between Hamilton and Pesce, which Carolina defender do we think is easier to acquire? I mean, it's easy to say they won't trade either one, but which way are they going to steer you? Hamilton is obviously an excellent player, but Pesce is locked up more longterm. As a Leafs fan I'd be happy with either one although I think Pesce slots in nicer with Reilly.

You are allowed to sign defenceman without their combined age being over 100. No way those two guys are making us better or Stralman is signing for that little. Nothing other than a bottom pairing minute eater on a one year is what should come out of this years UFA defenceman crop.

I like perry for size. even if he doesnt produce like he once did.

No, not at all. No. No, no, no, no, no.

Perry is slow. The Leafs are among the faster teams in the NHL, no reason to bring an anchor like Perry around just to bring in a "heavier" forward to appease all Leafs fan over 50. He should not play in our top 6, and certainly not for 4.8 million. If you like a player with size, look up how big Mikheyev and Marchment are. And they cost literally nothing and I would bet almost anything they have more points then Perry next year.
