Mom come pick me up Im scared

Created by: Steinthekid
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 17, 2019
Published: Jun. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Notes:
Could see the Pens going as high in this scenario as 4m Per season for Kappy.

For myself I am not a fan of Marcus Pettersson hence not re-signing and trading him. I feel he really fell off and was massively overrated especially come playoff time.

Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  2. 2019 6th round pick (PIT)
ARI
  1. Johnson, Jack ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. Kessel, Phil
  3. 2019 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
1. I DO NOT WANT TO TRADE PHIL, BUT I STILL BELIEVE EITHER HIM OR HORNQVIST HAS TO COME OFF THE BOOKS
2. The return on Joseph who should be NHL ready by the LATEST midseason would be good and essentially becomes what our first round pick is.
3. Retaining over a third of JJs salary makes him significantly more moveable imho, and he may work better in Arizonas system
2.
PIT
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Toronto won't have the money to keep Kappy and they desperately need help on Defense. Two birds one stone.
Second becomes a first if both Pettersson and Schultz sign new deals with the Maple Leafs.
TOR
  1. Schultz, Justin

Kapanen going back to the team that drafted him would be pretty funny.

Toronto doesn't have enough money to re-sign Kapanen but has $5.5M tucked away to pay Schultz.

If Pittsburgh was going to retain $1.25M on Johnson, they would just keep him.

Kessel and a 1st for Joseph? No.

Toronto also desperately needs more defensive help and is more then built up up front. Addresses a need while subtracting from a position of surplus.
