You want to pay a 35 year old who just had his first concussions 8.5 million for four years? A very Minnesota thing to do I guess.

I do not see how Brodin is worth a first more than McCabe, but I guess I do not understand hockey at all.

Bad season, with all of Minnesota. For me, it is obvious that Brodin is better than McCabe and he would be able to take a place in the second pair behind Dahlin or play in a pair with Dahlin if Rasmus suddenly plays RHD.

Fair enough. I guess I would rather have the devil I know than the devil I do not and keep the first round pick. Let's agree to disagree.
With Trouba and Montour being traded for a first and a fringe player, why not Brodin for just a first. I think that may be the fairest deal.

Well, there was not only the first one, Anaheim received a solid prospect in Guhle, and Winnipeg received Pionk and #20. We have #31 and McCabe. In principle, I am satisfied with the game McCabe and he would be an excellent defender for the third pair, but firstly it is not clear what money he will ask for extend, besides, he is unreliable in terms of injuries, he almost never plays a full season and always misses 20-30 matches. Therefore Brodin is a clear upgrade compared to McCabe.

Fair enough, McCabe plays hard and gets hurt. On the other hand Brodin's talent level is not even close to Trouba or Montour, that is why using their trades as a basis, the Blues first seems to be the right price.

I disagree, any Minnesota fan will tell you that #31 will not give you Brodin, you obviously underestimate him and I do not think Montour is better than Brodin in terms of talent, they are just different defenders, Montour is more attacking and Brodin is more defensive.

I am sure every Ducks fan and Jets fan would tell you a first and a prospect would not get Montour nor Trouba before they were traded.
As a Sabre fan, I would not trade McCabe and the Blues first for Brodin, while you think it is a good deal, then let's agree to disagree.
BTW, go here for a quick visual comparison of Brodin and Montour over the last 3 years. https://public.tableau.com/profile/christopher.turtoro#!/vizhome/2-yearA3ZPlayerComps/ComparisonDashboard
I am sure you really like Brodin which is good to be loyal a player for your team.
Brodin scores more .29pt/gm v .24pt/gm over the last 3 years, McCabe hits more and blocks more shots. They obviously bring different talents to the ice, I like McCabe's you like Brodin's that is fine we like who we know.

Now go here and compare their overall performance over the past three seasons, as you do on that site.
https://evolving-hockey.com/

Therefore, I repeat once again that for me Brodin is a better player than McCabe and I would have made this deal.

I get it now, somehow you thought I was making the case that McCabe is better than Brodin. Please reread every one of my posts very carefully (I just did that). I said I do not think Brodin is a first round pick better than McCabe and I said I would rather keep McCabe and the first. No wonder why you are disagreeing with me you completely misunderstood my position.

Difficulties of translation, you have not forgotten how I communicate? smile I think you already understand who I am. smile

I think we really need just such a defender as Brodin in the top 4 to protect Dahlin’s back in the second pair, I just really like Brodin.

Yes from the site that you used to compare players.
Now please, I would never suggest this trade but check out this comparison
https://public.tableau.com/profile/owen.kewell#!/vizhome/PlayerSimilarityTool/PlayerSimilarityTool
I wish I knew how they derived their statistics.
Type in Brodin and see who this site thinks he compares with the best. TBH I was shocked so I sort of doubt the validity, I always thought Marco was under rated but this is to much.
Спасибо
Edit:
Let me add, that defender just may be Pilut. He played really well with Ristolainen and made Ristolainen better.

I agree that this may be Pilut, but perhaps Risto will no longer be in our team in the near future. I like Pilut, but he is not yet Brodin and he is injured if we are ready to wait for Pilut to develop, then there are no questions, but I would be in a great mood if our defense on the left side would have looked like that.

Dahlin
Brodin
Pilut
