I wouldn’t mind this at all for Montreal. 1 year cap hits are the way to go with some compensation. We’ve got Domi and mete to deal with next summer, so if we don’t land a bigger fish like duchene in UFA, deals like this make sense. I do think you could also swing a prospect along with a 2nd for Callahan. The bolts are in a bit of a tough spot finding room for point right now.

Not entirely sure that summer of '21 will be hell, this will probably be down to who are we sending to SEA in the expansion draft. I could very much see a future where we don't protect Weber and that he moves there to create a strong leadership/culture there. That would be a 8M of "free" cap space. If we add that to cap hikes for 2 years and I feel we will be okay, regardless of the potential superstars UFAs we could be signing in the next two years. Other interesting choices will have to be made though for players contract extensions, especially with Petry and Gallagher.
