Carolina low balled aho to the point of needing an offer sheet to be signed, I don't think they want to now deal with trying to sign marner as well.

I'm confused why Montreal takes on bad contracts, to only dump their top goal scorer whos on a friendly deal, to release a bad contract.

They don't, what I mean is adding simmonds, he can play on the PP better than most guys on our current roster for the net front presence.

These lines are exactly what we had last season, and we had the 30th ranked PP. I think Bergevin should at least try and add a player who can help us out in that section of the game, which is why simmonds on short term might be a fit.

Kaapo is a natural winger who does have the potential to play center. I don't think it's in his developments best interest to throw him there immediately. Let him ride shotgun to zibanejad and thrive there.

As a habs fan and watching Chicago live, I'd be ecstatic if they moved Johnsson for Murphy. He is a bad defenceman.

Habs cap dump
I wouldn’t mind this at all for Montreal. 1 year cap hits are the way to go with some compensation. We’ve got Domi and mete to deal with next summer, so if we don’t land a bigger fish like duchene in UFA, deals like this make sense. I do think you could also swing a prospect along with a 2nd for Callahan. The bolts are in a bit of a tough spot finding room for point right now.

Fix it without big move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sakupi</b></div><div>YEAH but with the WPG deal we weren't in the need of a good backup bcause we had Niemi. Now we have Lindgren. We need a decent back up goalie. Allen is not a #1. But he's not a bad goalie too. Problem is fix for 2 years. The price is too high for a back up goalie. But with an interesting assets why not? They will not give Thomas or Kyrou. I dont want Kostin. I don't think we need a Barbashev. So Fabbri or Edmundsson was the 2 target to me.
Maybe we can go Florida for Reimer or Luongo +++
Id like Anders Nilsson but he just sign in OTT</div></div>
No need to spend 4+ million on a backup goalie is all I’m suggesting when we already pay Carey 10.5. Way too much money invested into 1 position. Lindgren is fine enough, and if it’s thought he’s not good enough, there will be backups available from league minimum-2M AAV during free agency

2 big trades NYI DALLAS
I like the idea of going after leddy to help the top 4 LD, but Tatar was arguably the habs 2nd best winger this past season, and quickly a fan favourite. If you make that deal, you need to get a replacement forward in the top 6.
The 2nd trade doesn’t make much sense to me. Philip danault performed very well as our 2C and is at worst a great 3C in the league. Armia for jannmark alone is about fair value (but armia is a good locker room guy for kotkaniemi so why trade him). While Robertson is a good prospect, the habs already have poehling, Evans and Suzuki waiting to make the leap. No need to trade a known food commodity for another prospect.

Fix it without big move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sakupi</b></div><div>Never i've put Scandella ont the top 4. For me he's a bottom pairing LD but can move the puck and play SH. I also said that he will resigne at a hometown discount. 4M is only for this year, and i don't think Bergevin will go All in for this year, he will keep the gap on the future/present.
Fabbri is the price to pay to say Bye to the very big Allen contract. 2 years left on this deal, so the '' on the side of the deal '' needs to be good enough. I was thinking at Joel Edmundsson but i do think the Blues will lock him for long term that's why i'll go with Fabbri. Very good upside IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY wich is a big question.</div></div>
No I completely understand your thoughts, but I just think investing 12M of cap space into a backup goalie, 3rd pairing Dman and question mark winger is poor cap and asset management.
The habs have a log jam in their bottom 6, fabbri just adds another body into the mix.
Like I mentioned before, if we take on a cap hit it should be similar to the WPG deal, short term and easy to buyout. I think the most pressing issue is a top pair LHD

Leafs have to win a cup NOW
If the leafs want to contend right now, I think they should move nylander for a defenceman.
If the leafs are okay waiting 1-2 more years for the Boston's/Tampa's of the atlantic to face some issues in expansion/free agency, I think the only players who should be moved this summer are brown and Zaitsev, theres marleau's contract coming off the books next year which helps the team moving forward.

2019-20
Haydn Fleury could definitely help us, but I don't see the Canes moving him for mcniven 1for1. we'd need to add a pick for sure, if picks are even what the Canes are interested in (they are on the verge of being a very good team and would probably want NHL ready help on forward).
Some names I could see involved in a trade for Fleury would be Charles Hudon, Arturri Lehkonen, Jake Evans. All these players can give the Canes bottom 6 some depth, and Forward is where I think the Canes want to add. These are all young decent players for the Habs, but the reality is there isn't enough room for all of them on the roster, so 1 (or more) of these names should be moved in deals to improve the LHD.

Realistic scenario
This looks fairly good overall, my only thought would be Hainsey at 1.5 may be too little, considering how shallow the UFA D class is this season. He enjoys playing for Toronto and Babcock though so maybe helps out with a discount. It concerns me for leaf fans seeing realistic armchair Gms like this, because frankly their D core is ultimately looking like it will become weaker than it already was (which is the apparent reason for the postseason failure).
I personally believe for this team to have a legit shot at seriously contending next year and on, they'll have to move on from nylander. He is a great player, but they played very well without him, and the leafs could keep Kapanen, and add a serious upgrade to their ailing defence in a situation where he's moved (Carolina for one of their RD makes a lot of sense).

Phil to Colorado
I think it's going to be quite difficult to dump JJ in a trade with kessel and also still receive a decent return. Especially with the team being vocal about the trade block including Kessel, and Kessel having the NTC to dictate where he goes. Kerfoot + 1st probably gets the deal done for Kessel alone, adding JJ doesn't allow that good of a return IMO.

Fix it without big move
We are paying 19.5% of the cap on goalies for the 2019-2020 season in this scenario (including the mason buyout). I think the Habs would be better off looking at a serious upgrade at top 4 LD/ a legitimate top 6 forward (fabbri has a lot of question marks) with that extra money spent on goaltending.
I also like the thought of Scandella the home town D coming to the habs, but he isn't good enough for a top 4 role imo, and now we're spending 4M on a bottom pair guy. Use that roughly 8-10M in cap you have spent here on a serious upgrade whether via trade or free agency for the top pair LD.

Poehling’s extension won’t be very rich at that point - he’s probably playing in the AHL and only 1 year of NHL experience going into the contract. KK hopefully plays himself into a 5M approx contract. Gallagher should be getting a $3M increase. Danault as well probably up to around 5.5M. We will also have Shaw off the books by then, and nearly alzner contract gone as well. It’s not the salary cap that worries me for who stays/leaves more so than the upcoming expansion draft for Seattle in 2021.
