Description
I just dont think Pavelski will take discount, if anyone deserves raise, it is him. 2 years might seem short but dont forget Seattle expansion in 2021. Meier and Labanc on bridge deals, cause thats the way Doug Wilson does it. Thornton takes friendly 2 million.
No Nyquist, Donskoi, Heed or Ryan, and still over cap - players likely to be traded are imo M. Karlsson, Dell, Dillon, maybe Labanc. Absolutely untouchable are now Couture, Hertl, Meier, E. Karlsson

What is guys your opinion on moving Burns/Vlasic? Moving Burns would make sense because he has value (he had his best season by points) and Karlsson can replace him, but he is face of the franchise which makes it unlikely. Moving Vlasic would make sense because he is not worth 7 million, but from the same reason, there wont be market for him.

There is no way that Meiers' next contract is anything less than what Hertl is currently getting, and it will probably be higher than that. Lablanc's new deal might end up there, but it seems to me that in order to resign Pavelski, the Sharks may have to give up Vlasic.

No one is taking Vlasic without SJ retaining salary. And you're right, Meier will get $5.5M-$6.5M on a 2 year deal. Labanc will have to accept $3 million on a bridge, nothing more.

Pavelski takes a team-friendly deal. He's the captain and loves the Bay area. I see him coming in at $5.5M or so for 3 years.

Even if Sharks retained $2 million on Vlasic, they would still save $5 million per season. I also don't think they would be happy signing Meier to a 2-year bridge deal. Wilson has been locking Sharks up to long term deals, and it will be no different with Meier. 5 years at $6 million AAV seems on the mark for Meier. Where they will find that money, I'm not sure.

Meier will be comparing himself to the other monster RFAs this summer (Point, Tkachuk, Marner, Rantanen, Laine, Connor, Boeser, etc). He won't accept a 5 year deal for only 5-6 million.

I'd be less concerned with those RFAs then I would be about Jeff Skinner's new deal. The Sabres really messed things up for a lot of teams with that signing.

I see where you are going, problem is Kane, he has too much money for his point production, thats reason why can Meier want big load, but if you compare Meier and Labanc in their NHL careers, you see they have very similar numbers, in fact Meier has same nuber only because of last season, where he was given more ice time and spot on first line (yeah, unlike Labanc, he is first round pick). Im just afraid that if he wants 5-6 million as bridge, Labanc will want the same and one of them (Labanc) will have to leave

Im not sure he will accept that if Meier has twice as much money

Yeah he might sacrifice himself, I just wanted to show that if anyone deserves raise, it is him, not Karlsson or RFA youngsters.
