I sure hope you're right. This $11M nonsense really gets me.

Exactly! why would another team overpay for Marner when that means they raise the price for wingers for them and everyone else its a lose lose situation

(1) Anaheim doesn't suffer much from Eaves' cap hit, so this proposal doesn't compensate them sufficiently for taking on Marleau's smack (which might prevent them from signing Myers). The only player that the Ducks want Toronto to take off their hands is Corey Perry. (2) Anaheim is desperate for RD, so they wouldn't be interested in Borgman, but Duszak or Hollowell.

Bottom line: any trade to Anaheim involving Marleau would require Perry coming back (ouch!) or Liljegren or a second round pick plus a little something else.

For one year of Marleau? You're joking right?

No. Which would you rather have? One year of Marleau, or five years of Tyler Myers at the same price? There has to be compensation for that.

Someone needs a reality check. Marleau has no value as a player, teams are only interested in what they can get for compensation to take him off Toronto's hands. He has a NMC, Toronto is very lucky that he is now willing to move to a few teams. Toronto is backed into a corner with him, they either pay big to get rid of his cap hit or else they keep him and likely lose some key assets because of cap issues. But hey, its only 1 year, lets see what Toronto has to do in order to become cap compliant with Marleau still on the roster.
