Wouldn't you prefer to keep Labanc around over Nyquist? Have to think Labanc is going to be eyeing up $5M or so on his next deal.

It's going to be a really interesting series of events playing out in coming weeks. That Karlsson deal makes SJ a real target for an offer sheet at both Meier and Labanc.

Labanc is signing a bridge deal, but even not in a bridge I don't think he is worth 5 yet.

I still think Gus gets more and Meier reminds me of ROR the year the flames offer sheeted him. I’d love the abs to take a stab at a 6.5M offersheet for him.

Meier wants to be a Shark. Offer sheets are often talked about but rarely happen. Who knows but I think Sakic should be more concerned about locking up Rantanen long term.

I see what you mean about the unrealistic contracts but non shark fans don't understand the full extent of Doug Wilson's negotiation powers. Seriously though, Labanc and Meier will sign short term lower money bridge deals. They will be rewarded in a year or two with hearty contracts just like Pavs, Couture and Vlasic we're after their bridge deals. I personally believe we should sign and trade Labanc to recoup some picks lost in the Karlsson and Kane trades and re-sign Donkey and Suomela in his stead.

What's the point of having Stalock back AND we sacrificed Labanc?
