Created by: adikt
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Probably way unrealistic.. But it's my world!!!

1)Rantanen signed to 10x current salary for max years cuz whatever.

2) Barrie for NYLANDER after NYLANDERS's July 1st signing bonus. Have to include pick to justify NYLANDER's years remaining in comparison to Barrie's.

3) Offer sheet Aho to be second line center to Nylander.. 8.5M at max years

4) Sign Lee (AKA Eastern Landy) .. doubled salary for not long term?? 3 years max probably...

5) Doubled Zadorov's salary.. 4 years until he's 28.. boom!

6) Put Barberio and Connauton on waivers to save cap space

7) Move Francouz up, hope for best (probably want to sign Lehner at matching Grub... but I'm running low on cash)

8) Move Conor Timmins/Bowen Byram up to 6d

9) Resign the roommates, Kerfoot and Compher to matching 3M for 3 years

$2,162,873 cap space left...

10) Moved lines around... See what carnage I have caused

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Lee - Aho - Nylander
Jost - Kerfoot - Compher
Calvert - ??? - Nieto

Cole - Johnson/Zadorov
Girard - Makar
Timmons - Zadorov/Johnson

Grubauer
Francouz

11) I could make a huge signing to bolster 4th line center, but Sakic would be subtle... So I'll call up Shane Bowers

$1,237,873 left, enough for 1 scratch..

12) We are Stanley Cup Champions forever and always! Horray Horray Horray!!!

Leafs would decline but I do appreciate the fact you added a puck due to term. Most people have on this site pay no mind to term.

Aho will stay in Carolina and when was the last time Timmins played hockey? And you want to throw him right in with the big boys?

Barrie > Nylander

My opinion is no, he just isn’t the right fit for Toronto and that is why I think they would decline.

Yep. You're right.

Pick would have to be at least a 2nd in 2020 + probably that 6th rounder conditional pick from Flordia to the Leafs to pull it off. Still probably biased...I dunno though.. Barrie would resign probably for the trio they got there... The third rounder solo is the biased avs fan in me for sure! Toronto needs a dman, in addition to picks, and also Sakic and Dubas could come to an agreeable number to hold Marner and Rantanen too and let everyone else set the market on their scrub elite rfa's. Nylander would be decent trade value if he sucks later on hopefully, but I'd rather have him than RNH like in every other world.

Aho would probably be matched at 8.5 but honestly I just kind of did this and if I had realized in my dream world I would have had $2,162,873 cap space left... So the biased Avs fan in me would want them to push it to the point where they probably would not match.. But then you're pushing Mikko up in salary and I felt that the 10x raise was already more than what I wanted to pay.... But If we got Aho at nothing less than 7/8 years for our picks and Carolina signed Duchene in Aho's place it would be more than worth it!

And as far as hometown discounts? Compher, Kerfoot, and probably Zadorov too are all about them in this world!

Also, no to Timmins and Francouz. But how else can we afford Eastern Landy? Too good of a deal for him or us to pass up really.

I feel like with that 12th forward spot... why not rotate Bowers, Kamanev (I didn't sign him here), Kaut, Dries, ect? And we could play Barberio instead of Timmins/Byram but come on.... it's my world!

Honestly... If I could go back and redo my world (I'm not going to edit)... Lee way more realistic than Aho (still would like to see them do it).. But given that they won't.... Instead of Lee or Aho what I really should have done was signed Lehner to be Grubauer's 1B (I said it in summary too) and then used the 4.2M+ savings on Lee/Aho to sign another forward and defensemen to replace Barrie... And still rotate that 12th forward or found a better option within the space.

Everyone makes mistakes!

Maybe next time you should at least read the title... not my trade. Just doing the other side of a trade proposed by a pens fan to see if the cap works. I certainly wouldn’t call that a bad trade for the leafs....

Do you really think the pens would ever make a trade like that? For the record I find Shultz to be a bit better defensively and Barrie better offensively.

I would not be horrified if leafs were able to obtain either, I mean beggars can’t be choosers but not at the price of nylander.
