Created by: Eklund
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
All expected signings done. Word on the street is Bibeau and Korenar will get a look this year for backup. Alex True is almost guaranteed a spot on the fourth line, he’s a solid defensive forward and led the Barracuda in points last year. Suomela is a cheap option to play on Jumbos wing. He could be swapped out for Marleau as well.

I dont get the obsession with signing Thornton for so low. I've seen everybody sign him for a million or lower. Why would he take that much less to re-sign? He deserves a lot more. Should be around 3 at least?

He said at the end of the year he is willing to take “whatever scraps are leftover”. He certainly deserves more but he will only play for SJ and if there isn’t much left on the table he’ll take what he can get. Same for Marleau.

There is no reason for Detroit to take Karlsson. He will take a roster spot and take minutes from prospects coming up. Plus Detroit has a several players just like him.

Detroit was an arbitrary decision. There are plenty of teams who could use his services as he is a strong penalty killer.

Every team can give out performance bonuses of something like 5.7% of the cap without it counting against the cap. That's a few mil for Jumbo... ie play 70 games = $. Score # of point = $ etc.

Plus, according to this site Jumbo has made over $100 million in his career. At this point he's more than willing to take a haircut for a run at the cup.
