This is more to addresses their needs. They don't have a solid choice for 4th line center, and their backup goalie Subban hasn't agreed on a contract yet. This gives them two decent players with cheap contracts. Add another 2nd or 3rd to the deal.

Gusev will cost a lot more than some scraps for sure. But you aren't far off. I just don't see the win in signing cedric pacquette for 8 years tho, so i can't take any of this seriously.
