Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2019
Published: Jul. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Marner is the last RFA standing. After putting Horton on LTIR list there are only $9.1 mln left. Marner has shown that he would only accept the bridge offer with that amount of money. Or Ceci can be traded for cheaper D but let's be honest, Cody is not an elite and no team would trade decent RD for him. So, Dubas almost made it, but in 1-2 years Leafs will be in total cap hell which is clearly presented in long-term outlook.

I think we have all seen that 9M left... finger crossed... Unless Nylander is moved for picks and a less expensive UFA is picked up (Ferland?)

Bridge deal for Marner makes the most sense anyways. The cap floor is going up after the expansion and he'll still be an RFA in 2 years.

Drop Mikheyev to the minors marner can sign up to 10 mill and liljegren is not gonna be our 7th d, look at like borgman gravel or holl. You dont need 3 healthy scratches especially with the AHL in the same city. The cap is also about to go up majorly (TV DEAL) over the next couple years and ceci is here likely for only the one year. The leafs are not in cap hell but a position where they will have to make slight tweaks each year and grow and use their young prospects

Dermott and Hyman will be on injured reserve till December so Petan and Liljegren are on active roster so this is actually the most optimistic view. If leafs won't win in 2020 so this means another 50 years of drought
