Calgary is in a weak position right now, they are trying to unload cap. Montreal isn't going to overpay for a top 4 defensemen when they don't have too.

Would be a nice fit with Weber and would help with the poweplay. Good moving defenseman. But you are right the cost is a bit high.

The Flames are not in a weak position. Of course, that is what it looks like but with a simple Stone buyout, we would be under the cap. Thereby Brodie is not a cap dump, we just we have no more use for him.
