Offer Sheet n PK help

Description
Calm down Leaf fans.

First, the trades:
Leddy Trade: Hamonic got a 1st and two 2nds coming off of an injury plagued year so a first second and a 6th for Leddy and Johnston (Johnston a cap dump, Leddy being used to replenish picks taken from the OS) certainly does not seem out of the realm of possibility.

Hickey deal: pretty simple, florida get some cheap controllable D help while the isles get some picks and shed some salary.

Yes Laine is on the "2nd Line". Barzal and Eberle have to be together and if you put Laine with them, it might be the worst defensive line in hockey. Barzal and Eberle go with Lee who is good defensively and Laine goes with Nelson and Bailey who can cover for Laine's horrible defense.

Brassard/JPom signings are to replace Filppula (left in FA to DET), and Clutterbuck (back injury likely to the LTIR) on the PK. This allows 20 year old Otto Koivula another year to develop before becoming the 3C next year.

This gives the Isles the much needed scoring help, while not putting them in cap hell like a Marner OS would. Plus with Greiss/Brassard/JPom/Martin contracts expiring, gives the Isles even more cap space to re-sign Barzal/Toews/Pulock while still having a star scorer like Laine. (Plus not giving up 4 first rounders, which is always nice).

there is no way I would mortgage the teams future on Laine and pay him that much on a bridge contract. bridge contracts are prove it contracts. right now laine is a fantastic shooter and terrible at everything else. if you're going to give him a bridge deal: 5.5 for 2 years, 6 for 3 years. and I would work out a trade not offer sheet him

Go longer on the OS and the Comp is 4 firsts. Laine for 5 years for just 2 firsts a 2nd and a 3rd seems pretty good with me. What do you think it would take to acquire his rights?

depends on how contentious the negotiation gets. at this point, based on he actually offers which is just shooting, no playmaking ability and very bad defense, he's not worth even 2 first. the highest I would go if I were the Islanders GM is
Leddy
Beau
Bellows or Ho-sang
3rd

for

Laine
Lowry
5th
