lets just agree its a bad trade, EDM dont want to give up their first and NYR dont want to retain any of his salary

maybe a deal like this is probably better off at the TDL. By then, retention or cap overages are easier to manage due to the cap savings accumulated throughout the year. Also, if the Oilers are near the top of their division, they might be more open to trading picks/prospects to further their cup run if their in the position to do so.
