Description

Whether Toffoli turns out to be a 1 year rental remains to be seen. I'm assuming he is in the sake of this trade.

But, Kovalchuk ($6.25M x 2) seems better than Hickey ($2.5 x 3) and Komarov ($3 x 3). Isles get out from under the money faster and I think Kovy still has some gas left in the tank.

Isles should absolutely not take on Kovalchuk. We need to pay our guys next off-season, and Kovalchuk is one of the last players I'd want taking up that space.

Idk if it's really "taking up" space as $5.5M is going the other way. You can move Hickey for a pick but I doubt anyone takes Leo. Figured this was a way to get out of 2 meh contracts for a semi-useful one with less term left

I'd still do it. Could get a mid round pick for Hickey if you flipped him - surprised you don't want him
