What's the point of the Kreider trade just to put him on the 4th line?

well trading for Kreider only makes sense if you want an extension...are you asking about that?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but the roster isn't filled out

Sure, what do you think an extension would cost... My guess is 6.5x8

Ya, you're right. The Leafs shouldn't have gotten Kerfoot, Barrie, Ceci, Spezza, etc. They should just focus all their energy on signing Marner. Makes sense because improving your team isn't important

Okay. With the way the market is going, it's pretty good for an almost 30 goal scorer

The leafs made great moves! they know how to manipulate the cap and everyone you listed does make sense for us. Trying for kreider and taking lucic doesn't make sense when you have rittich and tkachuk

Kreider extended contract is anywhere from 6-8 mil for 5-7 years.

In terms of value:

1 Full season of Kreider = Deadline deal for Mark Stone = Your best prospect (Valimaki / Andersson) + 2nd

Kreider Extended = Your best prospect (Valimaki/Andersson) + 1st + 3rd or equivalent value

So the easy way to mock it up would be Kreider = (Your choice of Valimaki or Andersson) + 4th + Conditional 2nd (which turns into 1st if he resigns). The good news is that the potential 1st would be a 2021 pick not a 2020.

I know the Leafs have made great moves. That's why I listed them. The goal is to improve your team and if you have an opportunity to do it then you do and worry about the rest later. In our case 2 of Stone, Brodie and Frolik are gone by the end of the offseason maybe all 3. That's 12 mil. The Flames don't have as tight of a cap situation as everyone thinks. We don't need Stone or Brodie so we can trade them and slide in Rasmus Andersson and Valimaki and Frolik is a problem in the room because he hates Peters so we can trade them and have just as good a team because our 3 d prospects, Ras, Vali and Kylington are just getting better. Brodie and Janko could be traded for Kreider to fill Frolik's gap and Dube could replace Jankowski

tkachuk could get 9 million and what if rittich wants binnington money? 13 million in cap space?

Mark Stone got 12 playoff points in 7 games, 5 more goals and 21 more points than Kreider in the season. He is not a comparable. Vali and Ras were off the table for him. We supposedly had a deal with Ottawa the night before the TDL (my guess is Kylington was involved) but the Senators decided they wanted Valimaki or Andersson so Calgary backed out at the last minute. They are not going anywhere. I think that Zuccarrello is a better comparable. Now Kreider is better so what if it was an unconditional 1st and a conditional 2nd that become a 1st if we win the Cup or something about Kreider's performance or something like that.

Rittich can want Binnington money but Rittich did not carry a dead last team to the Stanley Cup so he won't get it. He'll get 3 in arbitration but doubtful he hits because Flames would want a longer term deal and not a one year he will be awarded in arb. Tkachuk could get 9 but Aho is 8.5 so he won't. He'd get 9 on a 7 or 8 year but he wants 5 years so my guess is 7.75. The Flames don't actually have too tight a cap situation

I wasn't comparing Stone to Kreider. I was comparing 22 Stone games to 82 Kreider games. If you prefer a different value for Kreider that's closer over a full season...perhaps Duchene is better?

Though if Duchene got a 1st and a Kylington level prospect + Nikolaev level prospect + Conditional 1st at the deadline....does that mean a full season of Kreider gets more than that? And what would that more be? A better prospect? or a better pick?

you can say all you want but the way things have been going rittich is still unsigned and could get 4 Mill and tkachuk could hold firm and ask for 9 mill

Mather could hold firm and ask for a billion, there now we’ve both said something with no merit. Go read an article or two and you’d know exactly where the Flames stand on Rittich and Tkachuk.

I mean, I have, that’s why I would mention that there are articles out there about Rittich and Tkachuk’s situations that completely contradict what you’re saying.

These charts are hilarious, we know who the players are. We are getting Less than Trouba. Both have a couple spots in mind and want massive term. GMs know this. Nobody's handing over a Makar, Valimaki,...for one underwhelming year of Kreider

In a futures involved trade I would only give either Kyl or a 1st and both could be paired with a conditional 1st. You could add mid-round picks and B prospects as well. For players on the team that you may want it's probably Brodie, Janko, Frolik on the table. If you want other players than who would they be?

Rittich will get a minimum of 2.6 and an absolute maximum of 3.4. Tkachuk will under no circumstances other than an 8-year deal with no trade restrictions get 9 mil. If Aho got 8.5 Tkachuk should not under any circumstances come within 0.5 mil of that on a 5 year deal. Tkachuk wants to win and if he wants to be our future captain would never hold out

I don't think Brodie or Janko have much value to us at all. And Frolik we're not resigning so his value is better maximized elsewhere.

If you're trying to get a top 15 LW and then saying "you can't have the only 2 Top 50 prospects we actually have" it's tough to do.

I'm trying to think of something that would work. If you were trading Valimaki what would you want in return prospect wise from us?

There is a 0% chance he gets traded but I'll entertain it and try proposing something fair. Adam Fox if he was willing to play for us. He is pretty fussy and thinks that as a 20 year old he had the right to tell not one but two NHL franchises to trade him without doing anything in the NHL so he may not want to play for us especially having already demanded a trade from Calgary. If he didn't want to play for us which is almost 100% likely the outcome of that scenario than maybe Kravstov, Chytil or one of Shesterkin or Georgiev with an addition by you guys for Shestorkin or Georgiev. Kravstov and Chytil could be one for one or Calgary could add a little bit to make Kravstov work

And, yes it is hard to do but Calgary thinks that Ras or Vali could win a Norris if they reach their ceiling so I think they'll hold on to them
